Saim Irgi
Saim Irgi/Turkey/Assault, Strangulation, Reckless Endangerment
On November 5, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officers in the Buffalo area arrested Saim Irgi, a 39‑year‑old illegal alien from Turkey. During the operation in Tonawanda, Irgi refused repeated commands to exit his vehicle, violently resisted efforts to remove him, and shouted repeatedly as officers attempted to take him into custody.
Officers ultimately subdued Irgi after deploying a taser and then transported him to the Buffalo Federal Detention Facility, where medical staff cleared him for detention. ICE officials report that Irgi has a documented violent criminal history in the United States, including an assault charge in New Jersey and charges in Pennsylvania for strangulation, assault, and reckless endangerment.
Irgi originally entered the U.S. illegally near Jamul, California, in July 2023 before being released into the country and later accumulating these state‑level charges. He now remains in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings or removal.
