Santo Angel Rodriguez Silot/Cuba/Aggravated Battery, Cocaine Possession, Heroin Possession
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in Miami have arrested Santo Angel Rodriguez Silot, a 64-year-old Cuban national with an extensive criminal history spanning multiple decades. Rodriguez Silot arrived in the United States during the 1980 Mariel Boatlift, when over 125,000 Cuban dissidents fled Fidel Castro’s regime and were welcomed by the Carter administration.
According to ICE officials, Rodriguez Silot failed to use his second chance to build a productive life in America. Instead, he compiled a lengthy criminal record that includes felony convictions for aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, cocaine possession, and heroin possession. The charges demonstrate a pattern of violent and drug-related offenses that authorities say posed a significant threat to public safety.
ICE Miami officers apprehended Rodriguez Silot at his residence with assistance from state law enforcement partners. He is currently being held in federal custody pending removal proceedings. The arrest was announced as part of ICE’s ongoing enforcement operations targeting individuals with serious criminal convictions.
“Our officers remain committed to removing dangerous criminal aliens from our communities,” an ICE spokesperson stated. Rodriguez Silot’s case highlights the agency’s focus on apprehending foreign nationals with violent criminal histories and drug trafficking involvement.
The Mariel Boatlift refugee, who had been living in South Florida for more than four decades, now faces deportation back to Cuba following his arrest by federal immigration authorities.
