In a similar case, on February 5, 2025, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Baltimore arrested 65-year-old Islom Gaziev, a citizen of Uzbekistan, during a targeted enforcement operation in Owings Mills, Maryland.
Gaziev had entered the United States unlawfully and was identified as a high-priority target due to his criminal record. He had previously been convicted in Maryland of a fourth-degree sex offense. Despite this conviction, Gaziev remained in the country without authorization.
ICE officers apprehended him without incident and transported him to a secure detention facility. He was issued administrative immigration charges and placed into removal proceedings. At the time of his arrest, Gaziev had no pending applications for immigration relief or legal status.
Due to his criminal history and immigration violations, ICE classified him as a significant enforcement priority. Gaziev remains in ICE custody while his deportation case proceeds through the immigration court system.
