Sergio Flores/Mexico/Sexual Assault

by G. George | August 22, 2025

ICE El Paso arrested Sergio Flores, a Mexican national and legal United States resident. Court records reflect five separate felony convictions for sexual assault. The convictions were entered after criminal proceedings in which a jury or judge found the elements proved beyond a reasonable doubt. Following completion of the criminal portion of the case, Flores was transferred to immigration authorities for processing.

Sexual assault is prosecuted as a serious felony because it involves nonconsensual sexual conduct and significant harm to victims. Evidence in such prosecutions commonly includes victim statements, corroborating testimony, medical and forensic documentation, and physical or digital records that establish the prohibited conduct and the identity of the offender. Multiple convictions in a single matter can represent separate counts arising from one incident or distinct incidents charged and proven by the court, and they typically lead to substantial custodial sentences followed by supervision conditions.

Flores is in ICE custody pending removal proceedings before an immigration judge. Under United States immigration law, sexual assault offenses qualify as aggravated felonies that render a noncitizen removable and generally limit eligibility for discretionary relief. Standard procedures now underway include identity verification through biometrics, compilation of certified judgment and sentencing documents, and coordination of travel documentation with the Government of Mexico. If a final order of removal is issued, transportation will be arranged and custody will be transferred to Mexican authorities upon arrival, concluding the immigration case that followed the criminal convictions.
