Simin Nicholas Shaw/Iran/Cocaine Distribution, Obstruction of Justice
ICE New Orleans officers arrested Simin Nicholas Shaw, a citizen of Iran, following her involvement in serious criminal activity while unlawfully present in the United States. Shaw has a criminal record that includes convictions for cocaine distribution and obstruction of justice. These offenses have placed her among ICE’s priority cases for enforcement due to both the drug trafficking element and her efforts to interfere with legal processes.
According to court records, Shaw’s cocaine distribution conviction stemmed from a case where she was involved in the possession and sale of a significant quantity of illegal narcotics. During the investigation, Shaw attempted to obstruct justice by tampering with evidence and interfering with ongoing proceedings, which led to an additional conviction.
Following her release from local custody, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officers located and arrested Shaw. She was taken into ICE detention without incident and is now awaiting removal proceedings. Given the severity of her criminal conduct, Shaw will remain in ICE custody throughout the duration of her case and is ineligible for most forms of relief.
ICE confirmed that her arrest ensures she will not return to U.S. communities while her deportation case is adjudicated.
