Ta Kwe Htoo/Burma/Criminal Sexual Conduct

Ta Kwe Htoo, a criminal illegal alien from Burma, was arrested by federal immigration officers in Grand Rapids, Michigan, following his release from state custody. Authorities report that Htoo had previously been convicted in Kent County of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct stemming from a 2013 offense involving a known victim.

He entered a no-contest plea later that year and received an 8 to 25-year prison sentence, serving a substantial portion before discharge in June 2023.​

After his release from the Michigan Department of Corrections, Htoo came under renewed scrutiny from Immigration and Customs Enforcement because of his serious felony record and immigration status. ICE officers took him into custody in the Grand Rapids area as part of an operation focused on criminal illegal aliens with violent sexual assault convictions. He now faces federal immigration proceedings that could lead to removal from the United States.
