Thailand Oh/Laos/Domestic Assault

by G. George | May 20, 2025

On February 19, 2025, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers arrested Thailand Oh, a 25-year-old citizen of Laos who had been living unlawfully in the United States. Oh was taken into custody during a targeted enforcement operation in Minnesota, following multiple prior convictions and a standing final order of removal. He had first come to ICE’s attention in 2023 after several arrests for violent offenses.

Oh’s criminal history includes convictions for domestic assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, and making terroristic threats. In one case, he was found guilty of assaulting a family member during a domestic disturbance, resulting in injury to the victim. In a separate incident, law enforcement recovered a loaded handgun during a traffic stop, which Oh was prohibited from possessing due to his immigration status and prior convictions. He was convicted on both state-level domestic violence and weapons charges in 2023 and sentenced to time in county jail.

An immigration judge issued a final order of removal on April 5, 2024, after Oh failed to meet the conditions required for immigration relief. Following his release from local custody in early 2025, ICE officers located and arrested Oh without incident. He is currently held at an ICE detention facility and remains in custody pending deportation to Laos.
