Walter Leonel Perez Rodriguez/El Salvador/Child Sexual Assault, Illegal Reentry, Assault on Officer

On November 4, ICE officers in Houston arrested Walter Leonel Perez Rodriguez, a 33‑year‑old twice‑deported criminal alien and convicted child predator from El Salvador. During the encounter, Rodriguez allegedly resisted arrest and violently attacked an ICE officer, striking the officer in the face with a metal coffee cup filled with hot liquid.​

Federal records show that Perez Rodriguez has illegally entered the United States on at least three occasions and was previously removed in 2013 and again in 2020 following immigration court orders. While in the U.S., he has been convicted of sexually assaulting a child, child molestation offenses, multiple DUI charges, and illegal reentry, establishing a long pattern of serious criminal conduct.​

Following this latest arrest, he has been referred for federal prosecution on new counts of illegal reentry and assaulting a federal officer, and he remains in custody pending those proceedings.
