ICE New Orleans deported William Gonzalez-Quintanilla, a citizen and national of El Salvador, on July 11, 2025, following his identification as a removable noncitizen with known gang affiliation and outstanding criminal charges in his home country. According to ICE records, Gonzalez-Quintanilla is a confirmed member of the MS-13 gang, a transnational criminal organization known for violent criminal activity, including homicides, extortion, and drug trafficking. Gang membership is a significant factor in U.S. immigration enforcement decisions, particularly when coupled with allegations of serious violent crimes.

Gonzalez-Quintanilla is wanted by local law enforcement authorities in El Salvador for aggravated homicide, an offense involving the intentional and unlawful killing of another person under circumstances deemed especially egregious under Salvadoran law. He is also wanted for attempted aggravated homicide, indicating allegations that he took substantial steps toward committing an unlawful killing but did not ultimately complete the act. Both charges are considered violent felonies and carry severe penalties in El Salvador.

ICE has not disclosed details regarding the circumstances leading to Gonzalez-Quintanilla’s apprehension in the United States, his length of time in the country, or whether he has any criminal convictions in the U.S. beyond his immigration violations. Following the completion of his removal proceedings, Gonzalez-Quintanilla was deported to El Salvador, where he is expected to face prosecution for the outstanding charges. As of the latest report, Gonzalez-Quintanilla has been transferred to Salvadoran authorities to answer for aggravated homicide and attempted aggravated homicide charges.
