Yeison Herrera-Hernandez, a 36-year-old citizen of Venezuela and an illegal alien in the United States, was recently arrested by ICE Denver officers as part of ongoing enforcement efforts targeting noncitizens with serious criminal records. Herrera-Hernandez has a documented criminal history that includes both past convictions and significant pending charges, marking him as a public safety concern and subjecting him to potential removal from the U.S.

Herrera-Hernandez has prior convictions for criminal mischief, a crime involving intentional property damage or vandalism. Such offenses, while sometimes categorized as non-violent, still demonstrate disregard for the law and often carry escalating penalties, especially for repeat offenders.

More serious, however, are his pending criminal charges. He faces felony counts of kidnapping, felony theft, and burglary. Felony kidnapping is an extremely severe offense that involves unlawfully taking and holding another person against their will—a crime that carries long prison sentences due to the inherent threat to personal safety and freedom. Felony theft and burglary further indicate involvement in significant property crimes, frequently accompanied by financial losses, damage, and considerable fear for victims and communities.

ICE Denver officers, working in close cooperation with local law enforcement agencies, arrested Herrera-Hernandez to ensure that he could not be released back into the community while facing these serious allegations. His case reflects ICE’s continued focus on identifying, apprehending, and removing noncitizens whose criminal behavior threatens public safety.

Herrera-Hernandez will remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of his criminal and immigration proceedings. The combination of his prior convictions and pending charges places him at significant risk of removal from the United States under federal immigration laws.
