ICE New Orleans arrested Yousef Mehridehno, a citizen of Iran and an illegal alien residing in the United States, during a high-priority enforcement action targeting individuals who pose significant threats to public safety and national security. Mehridehno, 48, has been living in the country without lawful status and came under renewed scrutiny due to both his criminal history and alarming national security concerns.

Mehridehno’s criminal history includes two arrests for domestic assault in 2007. Court records detail that these incidents involved violent altercations within his household, resulting in charges for physically harming another individual. While he faced legal consequences at the state level, his violent behavior established a concerning pattern of disregard for the law and personal safety of others.

More significantly, recent developments have elevated the urgency of his case. In early 2025, federal authorities officially listed Mehridehno as a known or suspected terrorist—a designation reserved for individuals believed to be associated with or supporting terrorist activities or organizations. ICE officers apprehended Mehridehno without incident. At the time of his arrest, he had no valid immigration status or applications for legal relief on file.
