On February 5, 2025, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in Detroit apprehended Zafar Bakhriddin Ugli Ahadov, a citizen of Uzbekistan, following his release from local custody after serving a 180-day sentence for assault.

Ahadov had entered the United States unlawfully and was identified by ICE as a priority for enforcement due to his criminal conviction. Upon his release from jail, ICE officers took him into custody to initiate removal proceedings. He is currently being held at an ICE detention facility pending the outcome of his immigration case.

In a similar case, ICE officers in New York City arrested Ulugbek Davronov, a 21-year-old Uzbek national, on April 28, 2025. Davronov had been charged with multiple offenses, including attempted assault with intent to cause physical injury and sexual abuse.

He had previously entered the U.S. illegally and was ordered removed in absentia by an immigration judge on July 28, 2023. Despite an active detainer, local authorities released Davronov without notifying ICE. ICE’s Fugitive Operations officers, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations, later apprehended him during a targeted operation in Staten Island.

Davronov is currently detained in ICE custody pending removal.
