A Guatemalan national has been arrested for a fatal stabbing in Fairfax County, Virginia, adding to a string of crimes committed by illegal aliens in the sanctuary county.
Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, 38, of Guatemala, was arrested earlier this week on second degree murder charges by Fairfax County Police Department.
It’s the second time in roughly a month that Fairfax County, which is adjacent to Washington, D.C., across the Potomac River, has been in the news for a deadly stabbing by someone illegally in the country.

On Feb. 23, Minter, a 41-year-old mother from Fredericksburg, Va., was attacked at a bus stop in Fairfax County. Her accused killer is an illegal alien from Sierra Leone who had more than 30 prior arrests.
In a separate incident this week, DHS said that another Guatemalan national allegedly murdered his 3-month-old daughter in cold blood in Fairfax County.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged an arrest detainer for Chavarria Muy, requesting Fairfax County sanctuary politicians not to release him without notifying ICE.
“ICE is calling on Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger and Virginia’s sanctuary politicians to not release this murderer back into our communities,” said DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.
According to WUSA 9 News, detectives arrested Chavarria Muy on Monday, March 30 in connection to a fatal stabbing of a man the day prior.
Officers responded to a reported stabbing just before 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 29. They found a man with multiple stab wounds inside a home in Bailey’s Crossroads, Va.
Fairfax County police and EMS tried to save the man on the scene, but he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Chavarria Muy left the scene before officers arrived. Police believe the victim and Chavarria Muy knew each other, but they are still investigating what led up to the deadly attack, according to investigators.
Muy was located in a car with the help of a Fairfax County Police Department helicopter. He was taken into custody without incident, according to police.
WUSA 9 News reported that Chavarria Muy is being held without bond in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, but Fairfax County has a history of releasing violent criminals.
Chavarria Muy is illegally in the U.S. and entered at an unknown place and time, DHS said.
“This incident comes just one month after an innocent woman was murdered by another criminal illegal alien at a bus stop in Spanberger’s state,” Bis said. “Open-border policies yet again have caused another preventable tragedy.”
According to published reports, Chavarria Muy is believed to a “gotaway,” meaning he illegally crossed the border and was observed by border agents or technology but avoided capture.
WJLA 7 News reported that Muy was charged with assault and battery in November 2024. A female victim accused Muy of punching and attempting to strangle her.
The charge is punishable by up to 12 months in jail and up to a $2,500 fine. Court records show a judge dismissed the charge at the victim’s request, the Arlington Commonwealth’s Attorney told WJLA News.
WJLA also reported that Fairfax County Sheriff Stacey Kincaid’s office did not respond to comment asking if the sheriff’s office is going to cooperate with federal immigration officials on this case.
Kincaid will not to honor ICE detainers and warrants, even when it comes to violent illegal immigrants.
Last month, Fairfax County police arrested and charged 32-year-old Abdul Jalloh from Sierra Leone with second-degree murder for stabbing Minter at a bus stop in Hybla Valley.
ICE lodged a detainer against Minter’s accused killer. Kincaid has not said if she will honor that detainer.
DHS described Jalloh as “a career criminal illegal alien with more than 30 arrests” who was still released and allowed to walk the streets.
In another startling case, an 18-year-old Salvadoran, who was released by the Biden administration, was recently arrested and charged with assault and battery for allegedly groping teenage girls at Fairfax High School. Fairfax County Public Schools allow illegal immigrants to enroll in school without documentation and attend until age 22.
Fairfax County has a history of refusing to honor immigration detainers, DHS said. In late 2025, a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador murdered a man in Reston, a day after a Fairfax County jail failed to honor an ICE detainer.
On her first day in office in January, Gov. Spanberger signed an executive order that prohibits local and state law enforcement from working with ICE.
The executive order rescinded the prior order from her Republican predecessor, Gov. Glenn Youngkin, which allowed local and state law enforcement to cooperate with ICE.
