Antifa militants indicted on terrorism-related charges for attack on ICE facility

Two Antifa militants have been indicted by a federal grand jury in North Texas on terrorism-related charges in connection with a July attack on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

The indictment marks the first time that the U.S. Department of Justice has brought terrorism charges tied to Antifa, Fox News was first to report.

The charges come after President Donald Trump last month signed an executive order designating the militant left-wing “anti-fascist” group a domestic terrorist organization, citing its “pattern of political violence designed to suppress lawful political activity and obstruct the rule of law.”

According to the indictment, eleven Antifa militants – among them Cameron Arnold, aka Autumn Hill, and Zachary Evetts – armed with over 50 firearms, attempted to ambush the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado that ICE was using to detain illegal immigrants awaiting deportation. One of the operatives opened fire on a local police officer who arrived at the scene in response to calls for backup at the facility and was shot in the neck.

“The wounded officer fell to the ground but was able to return a few shots,” the indictment says. “Coconspirator-1 continued to fire additional rounds until his rifle jammed. The attackers then left the scene.”

The indictment charges Arnold and Evetts with providing material support to terrorists, three counts of attempted murder of officers/employees of the U.S., and three counts of discharging a firearm during a violent crime.

“First time ever: the FBI arrested Antifa-aligned anarchist violent extremists and terrorism charges have been brought for the July 4 Prairieland ICE attack in Texas,” FBI Director Kash Patel said on X. “Under President Trump’s new authorities we’ve made 20+ arrests. No one gets to harm law enforcement. Not on my watch.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said, “Antifa is a left-wing terrorist organization. They will be prosecuted as such.”

Another alleged shooter in the attack, Benjamin Hanil Song was apprehended in July after a manhunt. Prosecutors allege Song, a former reservist in the Marine Corps, purchased several of the firearms used in the attack.

According to the Trump administration, there has been a 1000% increase in assaults on immigration enforcement, upping security and support at ICE facilities around the country in response.

This week, an alleged gang member in Chicago was indicted for putting out a hit on Border Patrol Commander at Large Chief Gregory Bovino. DHS says it has intelligence that Mexican drug cartels are behind bounties put out in the U.S. for immigration agents.
