Amid a staggering surge in assaults on federal law enforcement, some Democratic politicians say their base is calling for “blood” and “violence” to fight the Trump agenda.
The Democratic Party has been hijacked by the progressive “activist” class, and Border Czar Tom Homan said the rhetoric from Congress has to stop.
On Monday, Axios published a report quoting a Democratic lawmaker saying: “Our own base is telling us that what we’re doing is not good enough … [that] there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public.”
“It’s as disheartening as it is dangerous,” Mark Bednar, former communications director for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, told “Fox Friends First” early Tuesday. “They’re actually feeding into the frenzy of their rabid Democratic base.”
Axios reportedly spoke to more than two dozen house Democrats and not a single one hinted that they wanted to move away from the policies and rhetoric that actually cost them the election, Bednar said.
Many lawmakers said these voters tend to be white, well-educated and live in upscale suburban or urban neighborhoods, disregarding the voice and vote of working class, Latinos, Hispanics, and legal immigrants who all shifted strongly for Trump in the November election.
“And what’s also more alarming, too, is that there is a perverse incentive structure for Democrats right now where they can fundraise off their rhetoric and their actions,” Bednar noted.
In a post that has since been deleted from the social platform X, San Antonio City Council candidate Matthew Gauna called for the killing of ICE agents.
Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, highlighted the post on her own X account on Monday: “San Antonio City Council candidate calls for the killing of @ICEgov law enforcement officers in Los Angeles. Depraved. We’ll see you soon, @gauna_matty_5th.”
Another user @lamps_apple backed up some of Gauna’s X posts to another platform, where he rants about everything from LA Mayor Karen Bass demanding immigration agents get out of MacArthur Park to Trump’s staffing cuts to the National Weather Service to the Epstein files and Israel blowing up Palestinian kids.
According to Gauna’s X page description, he’s a “winning political consultant, BS ES, UTSA.”
In referencing ICE agents, he wrote on Monday, July 7:
“And they will get shot by the Los Angeles public. I wanna see a few dead ICE agents Los Angeles! Don’t let me down.”
In another post regarding the Texas flood victims, he writes: “Funny thing is most people in Houston feel this way about floodville. Oops Kerrville* You get what you voted for MAGA.”
According to a March 7 article in the San Antonio Report, Gauna did run for District 1 City Council. He is an environmental science student at UTSA and a lifelong San Antonian. He previously worked as an auditor and unsuccessfully ran for the District 1 seat in 2021.
“San Antonio needs leaders who understand budgeting, sustainability, and community-driven policies,” Gauna said. “I’m running to fight for affordable housing, better public transit, and a city that works for people, not just developers and special interests.”
In another article from the San Antonio Report, the District 1 race involved a 10-way race with rival neighborhood groups, scorched-earth political consultants becoming vicious and nasty.
Spurred on by extreme activists, politicians continue to vilify and attack law enforcement and Trump officials. They’ve Heckled Trump, mounted rogue impeachment attempts, and staged several stunts to get tackled by law enforcement.
The increasingly violent rhetoric has turned into action with direct ambushes on Border Patrol Agents and ICE facilities over the weekend.
On Friday, July 4, a group of people carried out an ambush attack on law enforcement at an immigration detention facility in North Texas. An Alvarado police officer was shot in the neck during the attack, but is expected to survive.
Officials say 10-12 individuals in military-style clothing fired fireworks to lure officers out of an ICE facility in Alvarado, Texas, and 11 people have been arrested in what it calls a “planned ambush,” FOX 4 KDFW News reported.
On Monday, a Michigan man died after firing at a U.S Border Patrol station in southern Texas. Three law enforcement personnel were injured trying to stop the shooter, identified as Ryan Louis Mosqueda, 27, who opened fire at the entrance of the United States Border Patrol (USBP) sector annex in McAllen, Texas.
“This vile assault on our officers is a disgusting escalation fueled by toxic rhetoric vilifying those who protect our borders,” McLaughlin said in a news release. “This must end now, and those stoking this violence will face consequences.”
