Denver homicide rate drops 58% as Trump admin cracks down on violent illegals

The Denver area saw significant drops in murders and robberies in the first quarter of the year, as the Trump administration continues its crackdown on violent illegal immigrants.

In Denver, homicides went from 24 in the first quarter of 2024 down to 10 in the first quarter of this year, a 58% drop, 9 News reported. The news station got the data from a Major Cities Chiefs Association survey released this month.

Robberies in the city went down 15.8% in the first quarter, and aggravated assaults decreased 9.4%, according to the survey. The violent crimes that went up were rapes, which saw a 6.3% increase.

In nearby Aurora, where the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua was active, homicides went down 36%, robberies decreased by 35%, and aggravated assaults were down almost 2%.

Federal law enforcement agencies at the direction of the Trump administration have targeted TDA and other violent gangs operating in the state. In December, ICE arrested 16 alleged TDA gang members at the infamous Aurora apartment complex where it operated. A couple of months later, ICE apprehended over 100 alleged TDA gang members. ICE operates the Denver Contract Detention Facility in Aurora to hold illegals.

The Trump administration has designated TDA as a foreign terrorist organization, along with MS-13 and the Sinaloa Cartel, to help weed out the gangs that have trafficked humans, drugs and weapons into the U.S.

The city of Denver and state of Colorado also are being sued by the Department of Justice, which is challenging “sanctuary” policies.

“The fact that a foreign terrorist organization could gain such a foothold in the United States of America is unacceptable,” the lawsuit said. “But it is the direct byproduct of the sanctuary policies pushed by the State of Colorado, and certain of its subdivisions.”
