Trump administration officials, and now Congress and the FBI, are taking measures to dismantle the elaborate network of organized, left-wing resistance against immigration enforcement.
FBI Director Kash Patel said the agency is investigating the organizers and funders of anti-immigration enforcement protests, particularly those involved in impeding law enforcement activities and endangering public safety.
“The FBI is investigating paid protest campaigns throughout the country including organizers, protesters and funding sources that drive illicit activities,” Patel said.
Tensions continue to rise across the country following last week’s fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by an ICE officer. Protestors have been spurred on by Democrats’ extreme rhetoric, leftist media propaganda and financiers such as Neville Roy Singham and George Soros.
On Monday, the state of Minnesota and the Twin Cities filed a lawsuit against the federal government to stop an enforcement surge by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The FBI had already surged resources to the Twin Cities to support other federal agencies investigating billions of dollars of welfare fraud and allegations of public corruption in Minnesota.
Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey have crafted a careful anti-ICE narrative, outright lied and dropped F-bombs following the shooting.
Frey has called for “ICE to get the F*ck out of Minneapolis” and cast activist Renee Good as an innocent victim — a woman who was simply “trying to leave” when she was shot.
But Good was actually part of an ICE Watch group and actively harassing, honking her horn and trying to block U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in Minneapolis. She disregarded commands to get out of the vehicle and instead accelerated toward an ICE agent when she was fatally shot while trying to flee arrest.
Patel’s announcement also follows mounting pressure to get to the bottom of who is behind growing civil unrest, well-coordinated protests and propaganda for various far-left movements, and organized efforts to resist ICE and impede law enforcement.
Left-wing Marxist businessman Neville Roy Singham, who has ties to the Chinese Communist Party, funnels money to radical activists’ groups in the United States that are under increasing scrutiny.
The GOP-led House Oversight Committee voted last week to subpoena Singham for information about this increasingly violent and disruptive activist network that aims to create chaos in the U.S. and spread socialist, communist ideology.
Through various mechanisms, he sends money to non-profit organizations and shell companies which spread pro-socialist, pro-Chinese government messages.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla, made a motion to subpoena Singham during a hearing on Minnesota’s welfare fraud. Singham, who is a U.S. citizen but lives in China, has ignored a Congressional request for documents related to his funding of various far-left causes and ICE resistance efforts.
The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform began looking into Singham’s reported funding of various extremist groups months ago. The House Oversight Committee sent a letter to Singham in June 2025 that he has ignored, Luna said.
The far-left Party for Socialism and Liberation, the Marxist revolutionary group known as The People’s Forum, the radical anti-war group Code Pink and the leftist Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER) Coalition have leadership links or financial ties to a funding network backed by Singham.
The House letter demanded Singham hand over “all documents and communications referencing any form of agreement between you among or between the PSL, the People’s Forum, the ANSWER Coalition, and any group with ties to the CCP.”
“Moreover, the Committee is concerned that you may be engaging in such activities on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party — and that your activity may violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act,” the House letter to Singham said.
Just the News reported that Chinese state-run propaganda outlets are promoting left-wing-leaning protests in the U.S. against the Trump administration’s capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Singham is the founder and former chairman of Thoughtworks, an IT consulting company that opened offices in China in 2005.
Singham reportedly worked as a “strategic technical consultant” with the Chinese government-linked Chinese telecom giant Huawei from 2001 to 2008, according to New Lines Magazine.
Even the left-leaning The New York Times highlighted Singham’s ties to the CCP in 2023, running with the headline “A Global Web of Chinese Propaganda Leads to a U.S. Tech Mogul.”
The report prompted then-senator and now Secretary of State Marco Rubio to call for an investigation into Singham’s CCP ties and involvement with radical groups.
Rubio told the Biden Justice Department that “it appears that organizations tied to Neville Roy Singham, a U.S. citizen, have been receiving direction from the CCP.”
In 2019, Singham reportedly started a consulting business with partners who owned a media company that pushed pro-CCP propaganda.
As of 2023, The Times also reported that Singham shared offices with a Chinese media company called Maku Group. The goal of the company is to promote a positive vision of China worldwide, an effort that Singham has reportedly given nearly $1.8 million in funding to advance.
“I categorically deny and repudiate any suggestion that I am a member of, work for, take orders from, or follow instructions of any political party or government or their representatives,” Singham told The New York Times in 2023. “I am solely guided by my beliefs, which are my long-held personal views.”
After marrying Jodie Evans, the co-founder of Code Pink, in 2017, her group has become increasingly radical and pro-China in recent years.
Some members of Code Pink posed with pictures of Venezuelan leader Maduro in 2019, the group has organized delegations to Gaza, Cuba and Iran, and stayed in a Hamas-owned hotel in Gaza City prior to the Gaza Freedom March.
Besides Code Pink, Singham has funneled millions to The People’s Forum, a U.S. nonprofit group in New York City that has been associated with organizing the 2024 pro-Palestinian protests on university campuses, as well as the ANSWER Coalition, the International People’s Assembly, and the “Shut It Down for Palestine” campaign.
Per the Party for Socialism and Liberation website, the organization has dozens of chapters nationwide — and it has activated them to protest ICE and to combat the Trump Administration’s efforts to crack down on illegal immigration.
The PSL “brings together a new generation of revolutionaries” to fight against capitalism and other struggles, including “racist police brutality, to the fight for a higher minimum wage and union rights, to the global issues of imperialist war and environmental destruction.”
Just the News previously reported that the PSL had been a leader in organizing and fueling anti-ICE demonstrations in Los Angeles as well as in other cities nationwide in 2025. The group also publicly sympathizes with murderous and oppressive Communist regimes.
The PSL quickly spun the narrative after the ICE-involved shooting in Minneapolis and jumped into action, taking the anti-ICE protest lead for the Singham network on Wednesday.
“BREAKING: ICE agents have shot and killed a legal observer while conducting a raid in Minneapolis. Video evidence clearly shows that ICE is lying when they claim self-defense,” the PSL shared Wednesday afternoon. “The ICE operation in the city is part of a racist crackdown directed especially at Somalis in the city. We demand that these murderers leave our communities immediately and stop kidnapping our neighbors!”

The PSL highlighted an anti-ICE march in Tucson featuring a large protest headed by a group carrying a large PSL banner. The socialist group also promoted various marches in Seattle, Boston, Milwaukee, Columbus, New York, and elsewhere — where its professionally printed PSL signs were displayed.
The People’s Forum, a Marxist-revolutionary group, and the far-left BreakThrough News media outlet also quickly mobilized groups into anti-ICE action.
The People’s Forum is pro-Communism, pro-China and anti-Israel and used its social media channels to foment anti-ICE hate, posting on X that “ICE murdered a legal observer in Minneapolis this morning. We won’t allow ICE terror in our communities. TAKE THE STREETS TONIGHT!” This was reposted by the ANSWER Coalition.
The Manhattan-based activist group is behind regular organized protests in New York City, and the paid director, Manolo De Los Santos, led a picket against DHS Secretary Kristi Noem on Thursday at the World Trade Center.
Santos declared on X that “the cold blooded killing of a woman by ICE in Minneapolis and Trump’s bombing of over 100 people in Venezuela are connected acts of the same brutal machine. We must dismantle the U.S. empire, or it will dismantle us.”
Nate Friedman, a New York City-based independent journalist and YouTuber, is on a first-name basis with many of the paid organizers, and at a recent Venezuelan protest walked up and asked “What are we upset about today?”
Santos and others were leading the New York City protest against the Trump administration’s actions in Venezuela, which the Chinese government repeatedly denounced since Maduro was a close Chinese ally in Latin America.
Following Maduro’s capture, media outlets such as Xinhua News Agency, China Daily, China Global Television Network (CGTN), and the Global Times — all directly run by the CCP — promoted the pro-Maduro protests organized by these same groups.
Code Pink also got in on the anti-ICE propaganda campaign, with co-founder Medea Benjamin posting following the Minnesota shooting that “this is what state terrorism really looks like. … ICE out of our communities! Now!”
The Singham-linked BreakThrough News outlet — closely tied to the People’s Forum — also documented and promoted numerous anti-ICE protests across the country. The tax forms for the outlet show that many of the group’s top leaders are all tied to the PSL as well, Just the News reported.
