The Trump administration’s crack down on crime in Washington, D.C., is taking the Capital City by storm — with liberals throwing sandwiches and illegal immigrants crawling out of the woodwork.
Following a wave of murders, assaults, carjackings and brazen retail theft in the nation’s capital, President Donald Trump on Monday federalized the police department. He has deployed U.S. National Guard troops and other federal agencies to patrol the streets in an effort to combat crime and arrest teens and thugs who are preying on residents and tourists.
FBI Director Kash Patel took to social media Thursday morning to update arrests made Wednesday night: “The FBI and our partners made 45 arrests — 29 immigration-related, 16 tied to the violent crime surge, and 3 firearm seizures.”

The charges included assault on a federal officer, possession of child sex abuse material, illegal firearms, drug trafficking, fugitive apprehensions and a Subway sandwich assault, Patel noted.
Many of the 29 illegal immigrants removed off D.C. streets had final orders of removal, added White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt in an appearance on FOX News Thursday morning.
“These results are happening night after night because of the efforts of this federal task force that are working alongside the Metropolitan Police Department who agrees with this effort,” Leavitt said.
Leavitt said that the police department’s union stated that “President Trump is right to do this, that crime has been totally out of control in the city” and that 65% of residents in Washington, D.C., say crime is a serious problem.
“While Democrats want to rant and rave and coddle criminals, President Trump wants to put them behind bars and that’s what this task force is focused on doing for the next 28 days,” Leavitt said. “… If the Democrats had their way, there would be hundreds more criminals roaming free in the streets of the District of Columbia right now.”
The D.C. crime crackdown has resulted in more than 100 arrests since Aug. 7, according to FOX News. Other reports said an operation involving federal and local officers made 43 arrests on Tuesday night.
Reports of arrests and the usual liberal backlash are sweeping social media, with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement posting several videos on X, including one at the national mall on Wednesday.
“Thanks to @POTUS’s leadership, our capital city will once again become a beacon of pride and safety for all Americans.”
ICE posted a video on X Wednesday morning showing the arrest of an illegal immigrant.
“Illegal aliens may be crawling out of the woodwork in D.C., but our officers will not stop until our nation’s capital is safe and prosperous once again,” ICE wrote.

Another arrest involving a food truck operator in the country illegally made national headlines.
“Capital city cleanup continues! Illegal Peruvian alien Jimmy Anderson Ayala Mayuri presented a large butcher knife to federal officers and motioned that he’d harm himself with it when we stopped his food truck on National Park Service property in D.C. today,” ICE posted on X Wednesday night.
Separately, Fox News and the New York Post reported that Mayuri was stopped by federal officers on Wednesday as he was driving his food truck. The man briefly barricaded himself in the truck before he was apprehended and detained by ICE.
Mayuri will be detained until a deportation decision is made, according to the agency.
HSI Washington DC announced the arrest of another illegal immigrant, Mohamed Lemine Sam, during an enforcement operation targeting unlawful food truck and mobile cart vendors operating within National Park System properties.
In another incident earlier in the week, a D.C. man allegedly threw a sandwich at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent and has been charged with felony assault on a federal officer, authorities said Wednesday.
Sean Charles Dunn was arrested late Sunday night after confronting a group of law enforcement officers — including Metro Transit Police and Customs and Border Protection agents — and yelling profanities, calling them “fascists” and saying, “Why are you here? I don’t want you in my city,” according to a criminal complaint cited by The Guardian.
On Wednesday, U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro addressed the incident in a video shared on X.
“He thought it was funny,” the former Fox News host said. “Well, he doesn’t think it’s funny today because we charged him with a felony.”

In late June, Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, a 21-year-old congressional intern, was fatally shot in the northwest part of Washington, D.C., with his mother warning other parents it could happen to their children. In early August, Edward Coristine, a former Department of Government Efficiency staffer known as “Big Balls,” was brutally assaulted trying to help a victim of a carjacking.
Over the weekend, a juvenile boy allegedly shot a stolen weapon at a group of kids in the Navy Yard neighborhood, resulting in the Metropolitan Police Department expanding a juvenile curfew zone this week, ABC 7News reported.
On Aug. 11, police arrested 17-year-old Leroy Dixon, who was charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Dominique Dingle, 16, earlier this year. The fatal shooting occurred May 20 in D.C.’s Navy Yard neighborhood, ABC 7News reported.
