Anti-immigration protestors and Antifa rioters in Chicago felt the full force of the feds over the weekend as clashes with federal agents continued at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Broadview facility.
Eleven anti-ICE agitators were arrested outside the suburban Chicago ICE processing facility over the weekend. Four people are facing federal charges stemming from the weekend protests, the Chicago Tribune reported on Monday.
The feds aren’t playing around in light of the escalating attacks against federal law enforcement nationwide. The Chicago agitators were caught on video Friday calling for violence against ICE in the wake of Wednesday’s deadly Dallas shooting, yelling “Arrest ICE!” and “Shoot ICE,” followed by “Shoot the F**kers.”
The sniper-style shooting at an ICE field office in Dallas killed one detainee and injured two others. FBI officials believe the Dallas gunman was targeting ICE agents after unused bullets were found with “anti-ICE” engraved on them.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security sent armed ICE agents into areas of downtown Chicago over the weekend, and U.S. Border Patrol agents have taken over security of the Broadview ICE facility, WGN-TV 9 News reported.
DHS released images of firearms confiscated from anti-ICE rioters in Chicago on Sunday, Fox News Digital reported. An investigation is also underway into a reported explosive device found near the facility.
The Broadview showdown began Friday with reports of 100 to 200 rioters blocking access to one of the gates in front of the Broadview Processing Center. Another 30 tried to swarm another gate and attempted to forcibly and illegally trespass on federal property, DHS said in a news release.
The demonstrations outside of the Broadview ICE facility have escalated since the Trump administration launched Operation Midway Blitz on Sept. 8 in the Chicago area, leading to ongoing clashes between agents and protesters.
The facility is currently being used as the main processing center for Operation Midway Blitz. Rioters have assaulted law enforcement, thrown tear gas cans, slashed tires of cars, blocked the entrance of the building, and trespassed on private property, DHS said.
“These violent threats and smears about ICE must stop. There is no place in American politics for violence,” said Tricia McLaughlin, DHS assistant secretary for public affairs. “These riots outside the ICE Broadview Processing Center and attacks on ICE officers come after Democrat politicians, including Governor Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson, have villainized and demonized ICE law enforcement.”
Politicians and protestors are defending criminals, as Midway Blitz Operation has resulted in the arrest of hundreds of criminal illegal aliens, DHS has said.
ICE has arrested Tren de Aragua gang members and those with prior criminal histories of murder, sexual assault of a child, felony assault, domestic violence, drug trafficking, armed robbery and other violent crimes, McLaughlin said.
Trump officials say the rioters are organized, bringing in people and protective equipment, and President Donald Trump recently signed an executive order declaring Antifa a domestic terror organization.
The lawless rioters have become increasingly aggressive in recent weeks. Rioters arrived on Friday with boxes of fireworks, N-95 masks, gas masks, goggles, knee and elbow protection, and large quantities of food and water, DHS said.
On Friday afternoon, Blaze News captured footage of a crowd of anti-ICE protesters attempting to block a federal vehicle from entering the ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois. The masked crowd swarms and hits the federal vehicle while repeating chanted slogans, according to video footage captured by Blaze News’ Julio Rosas. They also shouted to arrest and shoot ICE agents.
Attorney General Pam Bondi posted a video on social media over the weekend saying “Under President Trump’s leadership, there is ZERO TOLERANCE for political violence and domestic terrorism.
“We’ve seen this before,” Bondi said. “We saw it in Portland and with the LA riots. These are not peaceful protestors. These are coordinated attacks by radical extremists and they end now. Anyone who threatens or assaults our federal officers will be arrested and charged federally not in some liberal state court.”
Bondi said “we are taking our country back.”
The violence in Broadview escalated after dark on both Friday and Saturday evenings, with agents firing tear gas, pepper balls and rubber bullets into the crowd, WGN 9 reported. A similar scene played out just a week prior to that on Sept. 19, with crowds of people taunting federal agents and trying to stop vehicles at the facility.
The four people arrested on federal charges stem from the same incident Saturday evening outside the facility. Paul Ivery, 26, allegedly told an agent “I’ll (expletive) kill you right now” before attempting to evade arrest by jumping onto a car, according to a criminal complaint made public Monday.
The feds also arrested a husband and wife, Ray Collins and Jocelyne Robledo, who each allegedly had loaded guns with them as they scuffled with federal agents, the Tribune reported. Hubert Mazur, 21, also allegedly fought with officers who were trying to push the crowd back, according to a criminal complaint filed against him.
Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino also arrived to the Broadview facility Friday and has been on the ground to oversee the situation at the Broadview processing center, WGN-TV reported.
Bovino’s staff confirmed to WGN-TV‘s sister station, NewsNation, that Border Patrol has taken over security of the building from ICE.
Besides protestors, Broadview village officials are creating problems for federal agents.
Broadview officials, including the local fire chief and mayor, want ICE officials to remove a fence the agency erected to protect the facility because it’s on a public street, ABC7 Chicago reported.
On Friday, mayor Katrina Thompson wrote DHS asking the department to “stop making war on our community.”
ICE agents told officials in Broadview they would launch enforcement throughout the west suburb on Saturday. Broadview officials said ICE is retaliating in response to the pushback from local leaders and community members.

“Let’s be clear. ICE is seeking to intimidate the Village of Broadview because we dared exercise our 1st Amendment constitutional rights calling for an end to their war on Broadview,” the village said in a statement to ABC7 Chicago. “We will not be intimidated. We are Broadview strong.”
Tricia McLaughlin, DHS assistant secretary for public affairs, issued a statement, saying, “This is made up. Our law enforcement enforces the rule of law. Period.”
Organizers held a rally Saturday outside the facility which included Revcom Corps for the Emancipation of Humanity Chicago and the Revolutionary Black Panther Party, WGN 9 reported. They held a press conference where members pledged to continue their fight against federal immigration operations in Chicagoland.
“Today we gather in solidarity,” Alli Muhammad, leader of the Revolutionary Black Panther Party, said in the ABC7 report. “It’s not one group against the other group. They’re coming for us all.”
U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents also made a show of force in downtown in recent days. On Sunday, armed agents were spotted along the Chicago riverwalk, Millennium Park and Michigan Avenue, walking among tourists and residents, NBC 5 Chicago reported.
In an exclusive interview with NBC News on Sunday, President Donald Trump called Chicago a “crime-ridden mess,” and indicated that he is still considering sending armed troops into the city of Chicago as part of “Operation: Midway Blitz.”
“Any place where there is big trouble, we want to go and help out,” he said.
Mayor Johnson accused the Trump administration of using “provocative” tactics and has resisted immigration enforcement efforts every step of the way. He said deploying armed agents in the city is another escalation tactic since Johnosn has refused federal help to crack down on crime in Chicago.
“While Chicagoans and visitors are enjoying another gorgeous Sunday, they are being intimidated and threatened by masked federal agents flaunting automatic weapons for no apparent reason,” “This is another brazen provocation from the Trump administration that does nothing to make our city safer.”
Meanwhile, anti-ICE protesters in Chicago also gathered Saturday in the Loop to call for an end to ICE activity in the Chicago area. Leaders of more than a dozen groups met for speeches at Daley Plaza before marching through the streets.
ICE activity has been reported in Wheaton and Elgin recently, and agents also appeared to target roofers in Naperville. On Thursday, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol boats were spotted on the Chicago River, which continued over the weekend, WGN-TV reported.
