U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the arrests of additional criminal illegal aliens across the country, including individuals convicted of crimes involving child exploitation, sex trafficking, murder, and aggravated assault.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, the arrests were highlighted during National Police Week as federal officials recognized Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers involved in nationwide enforcement operations targeting public safety threats.
Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said recent arrests included individuals convicted of crimes involving minors, violent assault, and armed robbery.
“Yesterday, the men and women of ICE arrested multiple criminal aliens convicted of enticing children for indecent purposes, assault and battery, and armed robbery,” Bis said. “This Police Week, we are highlighting some of the worst of the worst ICE law enforcement arrested. Every single day, our ICE law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to arrest murderers, rapists, pedophiles, gang members, and terrorists.”
In a separate statement, Bis said Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers continue operations targeting individuals convicted of murder, attempted rape, and sex trafficking offenses.
“Yesterday, the men and women of ICE risked their lives to arrest criminal illegal aliens convicted for murder, lewd acts with children, sex trafficking, attempted rape, and assault,” Bis said. “We honor these brave men and women during Police Week.”
Bis also referenced increased threats and assaults directed at Immigration and Customs Enforcement personnel while discussing recent arrests involving murder, child sexual assault, narcotics trafficking and arson convictions.
“Despite a more than 1,300% increase in assaults, a 3,300% increase in vehicular attacks, and an 8,000% increase in death threats against them, the brave men and women of ICE continue to put their lives on the line to arrest the worst of the worst,” Bis said. “Yesterday, ICE law enforcement arrested criminal illegal aliens convicted of murder, sexual assault on children, drug trafficking, and arson.”
Below are five offenders highlighted by federal authorities:
Hung Quoc Bui
Bui, a criminal illegal alien from Vietnam and identified by authorities as a member of the Asian Boys Gang, was convicted in Orange County, California, of unlawful sexual activity involving a minor more than three years younger. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested him during enforcement actions targeting individuals convicted of crimes against minors.
David Zavalz-Jaramillo
Zavalz-Jaramillo, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico, was convicted in Hidalgo County, Texas, of aggravated sexual assault of a child. Federal officials said he was taken into custody during recent nationwide enforcement operations.
Hector Hechavarria-Rivaflecha
Hechavarria-Rivaflecha, a criminal illegal alien from Cuba, was convicted in Miami, Florida, of premeditated murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and felony assault or battery involving individuals 65 years or older. Authorities said he was arrested as part of ongoing operations targeting violent offenders.
Roberto Valdes-Catalan
Valdes-Catalan, a criminal illegal alien from Cuba, was convicted in Davidson County, Tennessee, of felony enticement of a minor for indecent purposes. His criminal history also includes a domestic violence conviction in Austin, Texas.
Orlando Ramirez-De La Cruz
Ramirez-De La Cruz, a criminal illegal alien from Mexico, was convicted in Queens, New York, of sex trafficking. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested him during enforcement actions targeting individuals convicted of exploitation-related offenses.
Department of Homeland Security officials said Immigration and Customs Enforcement continues nationwide operations targeting criminal illegal aliens convicted of violent, sexual and narcotics-related crimes.
