A Guatemalan national with three illegal immigrants in the car allegedly used his vehicle to hit a federal immigration agent during a traffic stop in Florida over the weekend.
The vehicular assault on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer occurred during a traffic stop on Sunday in Homestead, Fla. This marks the second vehicle attack in less than a week, resulting in two ICE officers being injured in the line of duty.
Henry Isaul Garcia, a Guatemalan national, reportedly reversed his car into the ICE officer’s leg before “nearly crushing him,” the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.
The injured ICE officer is recovering after being treated at a local hospital, DHS said.
“Thankfully, the ICE law enforcement officer is in stable condition,” DHS shared on social media with images of the smashed vehicles. “This is the SECOND incident in a week where an officer was injured while arresting an illegal alien. Sanctuary politicians must STOP encouraging illegal aliens to openly defy @ICEgov.”

After crashing into multiple ICE vehicles, Garcia sped off into incoming traffic and collided with a black utility van, The Daily Wire reported.
Three other illegal immigrants were passengers in Garcia’s car. They reportedly fled from the car, but were ultimately nabbed by law enforcement on foot.
DHS said Garcia illegally entered the United States on or about March 10, 2022, near Eagle Pass, Texas. That’s an area where hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants crossed the border, dropping their IDs, climbing across razor wire and pushing past Texas National Guardsmen during the Biden administration’s catastrophic open border policies.
All of the illegal aliens were transported to a local hospital for evaluation, discharged, and are now in ICE custody, pending removal proceedings, according to DHS.
The other passengers arrested include:
- Ruben Sales Garcia illegally entered and was removed from the United States in 2007. He has illegally reentered on an unknown date and at an unknown location.
- Marlon Gomez Hernandez illegally entered the United States in 2018 at an unknown date and at an unknown location.
- Jorge Perez Martin illegally entered the United States on an unknown date and at an unknown location.
The agency added that these dangerous attempts to evade arrest have been spurred on by sanctuary politicians and activist groups who provide tips on how to evade ICE officers.
“The violence against our brave ICE law enforcement must come to an end,” said Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “This type of rhetoric is contributing to our ICE officers facing a more than 1000% increase in assaults against them. It is time to tone down the rhetoric.”
The politicians and activists encourage mob mentality and resistance to ICE, promote “rapid response” networks to show up on the scene, and hold webinars on how to avoid arrest and openly encouraged illegal aliens to defy ICE.
According to DHS, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hosted a webinar in February providing tips for illegal aliens to evade arrests at homes, workplaces, or in public.
Dan Goldman posted a video online calling on illegal aliens to make a plan for ICE encounters.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass issued multilingual flyers and online resources advising illegal aliens on how to evade arrest, along with promoting LA’s rapid response network.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom released guides and sanctuary laws advising illegal aliens how to recognize ICE, block entry, and defy arrest.
Another ICE arrest in Chicago turned deadly after the suspect, Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez, resisted arrest and attempted to flee during a traffic stop, DHS said.
The suspect was shot and killed after allegedly dragging the officer for a significant distance with his car. Family of Villegas-Gonzalez told ABC7 Chicago the 38-year-old is from Mexico and has lived in the United States for more than 20 years.
Villegas-Gonzalez, who entered the United States at an unknown date, had a record of reckless driving and a final order of removal, DHS said.
ICE Deputy Director Madison Sheahan appeared on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends”, accusing Democrats of siding with illegal migrants over law enforcement.
“They obviously continue to take the sides of these criminal illegal aliens who put our people in harm’s way,” said Sheahan Tuesday on “Fox & Friends.”
“Not just officers, it’s the people of Chicago, people of these communities that these Democrats and Governor Pritzker continue to choose to protect.”
Both Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson continue to protect illegal immigrants with sanctuary policies.
They have defied the Trump administration’s deportation efforts, refused to address violent crime, and strongly resisted “Operation Midway Blitz,” a federal effort to arrest illegal criminals across Chicago and Illinois.
Earlier this month, Johnson wrote on X: “Chicago doesn’t want to see reckless, unconstitutional, militarized immigration enforcement in our city.”
