The Texas Department of Public Safety announced the capture of a fugitive listed among the state’s 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Jose Antonio Marquina-Bonilla, 33, a criminal illegal immigrant from Honduras, was arrested on August 3 near an apartment complex in northwest Dallas. The arrest was the result of a coordinated operation involving the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division, Grapevine Police Department detectives, and Dallas Police Department officers, who conducted a traffic stop that led to his capture.
Marquina-Bonilla had been wanted by the Grapevine Police Department since June for continuous sexual abuse of a young child. The charge is one of the most serious felonies under Texas law, carrying a potential sentence of 25 years to life in prison without parole upon conviction.
Records show Marquina-Bonilla was first deported from the United States in 2016 after being encountered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Arizona. He later reentered the country illegally and was arrested in October 2023 by Grapevine police for assault causing bodily injury to a family member. After being convicted, he was deported again to Honduras the following month by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Authorities allege that following his second removal, Marquina-Bonilla illegally returned to Texas in late 2024 and began sexually abusing a child in November of that year. Investigators believe the abuse continued for several months before he was formally charged in June 2025.
Marquina-Bonilla’s name was subsequently added to Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List, which highlights fugitives with violent criminal histories who are considered threats to public safety. The program publicizes these cases statewide to aid in their capture.
DPS confirmed that no Crime Stoppers reward will be paid in connection with Marquina-Bonilla’s arrest. He remains in custody as his case proceeds through the Texas court system, while federal immigration authorities prepare to take custody following the outcome of his criminal charges.
