ICE arrest Honduran national at California clinic leads despite staff interference

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested a Honduran national at a medical clinic in Ontario, California, after he fled a targeted enforcement operation, and staff allegedly blocked federal agents from making the arrest, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

The incident began when ICE officers, wearing marked bulletproof vests, approached two people identified as immigration enforcement targets as they exited a vehicle. DHS said one suspect, 30-year-old Denis Guillen-Solis of Honduras, ran from the scene to evade arrest and entered the Ontario Advanced Surgical Center.

According to DHS, clinic staff physically intervened by pulling both the ICE officer and the suspect into the building, locking doors to obstruct the arrest, blocking government vehicles from leaving, and calling local police to claim there was a “kidnapping.”

ICE reported that Guillen-Solis was ultimately taken into federal custody following what DHS described as a “use of force incident” inside the facility.

Video circulating on social media shows federal officers struggling with clinic staff at the entrance as they attempt to remove the suspect. Local media reported that clinic staff demanded to see a warrant or federal ID before allowing agents to leave with the suspect.

DHS said officers had clearly marked “ICE” identifiers on their tactical gear during the operation. ICE officials told ABC7 that agents displayed federal identification and insignia while conducting the arrest.

No charges against clinic employees have been announced. DHS characterized the staff’s actions as deliberate obstruction of federal immigration enforcement, stating they assaulted law enforcement during the altercation.

ICE said the operation was part of ongoing targeted enforcement efforts and emphasized that all officers involved had identified themselves and were performing lawful duties under federal immigration law.

California remains one of the states where local jurisdictions and private facilities frequently resist cooperation with ICE operations.
