U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced multiple arrests in Minneapolis on Wednesday as part of an ongoing enforcement effort targeting criminal illegal aliens convicted of serious offenses, including sexual crimes, violent assaults, and drug trafficking. Federal officials said the arrests were carried out despite heightened hostility and resistance directed at law enforcement officers.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated that ICE officers continued their operations in the city despite the unrest. “In the face of violent attacks, ICE law enforcement arrested pedophiles, rapists, and drug traffickers in Minneapolis yesterday,” McLaughlin said. She added that officers “put their lives on the line every single day to arrest the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens from American communities,” and said enforcement efforts would continue despite opposition from local leadership.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, more than 1,500 illegal aliens have been arrested across Minnesota since the launch of Operation Metro Surge, including individuals convicted of murder, rape, sexual abuse of children, and gang-related crimes.
