ICE bust on Louisiana shipyard nabs 25 illegals

Immigration agents apprehended 25 illegal aliens working for a company at a New Orleans shipyard following an investigation into employment practices.

The investigation unfolded after ICE Homeland Security Investigations’ branch in New Orleans arrested an illegal alien employee of Barrois Welding Services, owned by Russel E. Barrois. The agency then issued a Notice of Inspection and Immigration Subpoena to the business.

“Despite multiple requests, Barrois failed to provide required employee documentation, including Form I-9s, identification documents, or a current employee listing,” ICE said.

HSI New Orleans inspected the worksite last week, finding 25 illegals from Honduras who were employed by the company.

“This operation demonstrates our commitment to enforcing immigration laws and holding employers accountable,” HSI New Orleans Deputy Special Agent in Charge Matt Wright said in a statement. “We will continue to investigate and take action against those who fail to comply with the law.”

According to HSI New Orleans, some of the illegals arrested had prior criminal histories ranging from DUIs, an illegal firearm discharge, and providing law enforcement with false information.
