An illegal immigrant from Honduras with a conviction for attempting to murder her own baby has been deported, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said this week.

According to DHS, Aparicio-Santos initially got a 16-year sentence that was later reduced on appeal to 10 years. She was set to be released after serving eight years, but was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement on April 7 after being notified by local law enforcement. She was deported on April 15.
Aparicio-Santos entered the U.S. illegally in 2014 during the Obama administration, but was released, then ordered for removal later that year, DHS said.
“This monster attempted to KILL her own child the day he was born,” DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said. “The Obama administration released this attempted murderer into our country,” she added.
“Thanks to cooperation by law enforcement and our ICE officers, this barbaric criminal is out of our country,” Bis continued. “We need cooperation from state and local politicians to get criminals like this out of our country. Together, we can make America safe again.”
Aparicio-Santos also had ICE detainer requests against her in September 2017 and December 2018.
