ICE to deport Russian illegal who killed trucker in crash

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement plans on deporting a Russian illegal immigrant who was responsible for a 2024 crash that killed a semi-truck driver in Minnesota.

Georgii Gabiev was watching YouTube videos about learning English while he was driving in Chippewa County, Minnesota, when he ran a stop sign, causing the fatal accident that killed semi-truck driver Tim Tarnowski.

Gabiev avoided prison time after pleading guilty to criminal vehicular homicide. He was released after spending 120 days in jail with probation, local media reported at the time.

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Gabiev illegally entered the U.S. through California in 2022 during the Biden administration.

Gabiev is in ICE custody pending deportation proceedings following his arrest last week in Brooklyn, New York.

The victim’s widow, Tammy Tarnowski, released a statement to DHS said Gabiev’s arrest will bring justice.

“Although Tim will never be brought back, Gabiev’s capture will bring the justice deserved,” she said. “Our family now has closure and we can begin the healing process needed to move forward. Our hope is that this will bring light to Angel Families and will save others from going through the heartache we have endured.”

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, who called Tammy Tarnowski to let her know that Gabiev was arrested, said the illegal “had no business being in our country and on our roadways.”

“If it weren’t for the Biden administration’s open border policies, this tragedy would never have happened, and Tim would still be alive,” Mullin added. “This is our why. President Trump and I will never stop fighting for justice for Angel Families.”
