An illegal immigrant from Mexico was arrested in Georgia for allegedly invading a family’s mobile home, raping an 11-year-old girl, and holding her and her 10-year-old sister at knifepoint.
Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Kenneth Moreno Guzman, 26, on Jan. 15 after initiating a traffic stop on a vehicle he was using.

Guzman faces 20 criminal charges, including home invasion and rape, among others.
The BCSO responded to Eagle Creek Mobile Home Park “shortly after midnight” on Jan. 12, according to BCSO Captain Todd Hutchens. The mobile home community is near Statesboro, Ga., a rural area of Georgia about an hour from Savannah.
When deputies arrived, the victim’s family said that an 11-year-old girl was raped at knifepoint. The suspect, now identified as Guzman, allegedly broke into the mobile home through the back door. Guzman later fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
WSAV 3 TV reported Guzman’s charges include:
- Rape
- Statutory rape
- Aggravated child molestation
- Aggravated sodomy
- First degree cruelty to children
- Two counts of aggravated assault with a knife
- First degree home invasion
- False imprisonment
- Burglary
- 10 counts of possession of a knife during the commission of a crime
The BCSO also issued an alert on the charges on its Facebook page.
According to the Statesboro Herald, agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement interviewed Guzman and determined he entered the country illegally from Mexico about five years ago.
ICE issued an arrest detainer that requires ICE has to be notified prior to Guzman being released from Bulloch County custody.
Hutchens, who heads the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division, said during a press conference that the Ogeechee Circuit District Attorney’s office and the prosecutor intend to prosecute the case.
“And I will tell you that he will not be released from Bulloch County custody under any circumstances until the case is disposed of in court,” Hutchens told reporters per WSAV. “So, he will remain in our custody throughout the court proceedings and likely go from our custody to the prison system.”
The 11-year-old rape victim was not alone in the room, officials said, which prompted charges of two counts of aggravated assault. The sisters woke up their parents, who called 911.
“One will be on the 11-year-old victim, that’s also the victim of the rape,” Hutchens said. “One will be on the 11-year-old’s sister who was 10, who was in the room, and Guzman, the arrested, also threatened the 10-year-old girl with the knife.”
According to investigators, Guzman lives in the same trailer park as the victim and her family, but they did not know the suspect. He told investigators the attack was premeditated, WTOC 11 News reported.
“He had previously seen this eleven-year-old girl before, he claimed he was attracted to her. So, during the middle of the night, he broke in to the home found her in the bedroom with her sister and forcibly raped her,” Hutchens said.
Guzman was taken into custody and is currently being held without bond at the Bulloch County Jail pending further court proceedings. The investigation remains ongoing.
Hutchens said the sheriff’s office continues to investigate whether Guzman had any history of prior sexual assaults or other crimes. Bulloch County investigators have not found any criminal record for Guzman, beyond misdemeanors.
The Statesboro Herald reported that Hutchens expects the District Attorney’s Office to present the case against Guzman to a Bulloch County grand jury in February.
“These charges run, several of them, hold a twenty-five to life sentence. And that is our objective here, is to send him to prison,” Hutchens said.
According to Bulloch County State Court records, a bench warrant was issued for Guzman in June 2023 and a bond forfeiture ordered after he failed to appear in court on misdemeanor charges of allegedly driving an unregistered vehicle without a valid license or insurance.
It took a couple of days for investigators to identify Guzman as the suspect and a vehicle he was driving. They initiated a traffic stop, based on his failure to appear in a previous traffic case, Hutchens said.
Once arrested, a deputy who speaks fluent Spanish interviewed him at the jail. Hutchens said, “He gave us a lot of information that is consistent with the application of these charges.”
Hutchens said BCSO’s whole criminal investigation team worked on the case, adding these cases are “very trying” but necessary to respond to and prosecute.
“Our whole criminal investigation unit worked on this [and] once this came to light, we began trying to identify the suspect,” Hutchens said. “Again, it is the trying on the whole unit, but now that we have this particular person in jail, we know that he will not be able to victimize anybody else right now and hopefully, forever.”
