Illegal alien arrested in Tennessee double homicide case

A Honduran national living in the United States illegally has been arrested in connection with a double homicide in Nashville, Tenn., according to a statement from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Josue Hernandez Moxje, 23, was taken into custody on June 6 in Louisiana following an arrest warrant issued in Tennessee. Federal and local law enforcement agencies — including ICE Homeland Security Investigations Nashville, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Metro Nashville Police Department — coordinated to apprehend Hernandez after identifying him as the prime suspect in a double homicide.

On April 28, authorities responded to a crime scene near Percy Priest Lake and Lincoya Bay Apartments, where two young men — Amir Landan Wilkerson, 19, and Jaime Valdez-Garcia, 18, both of Alabaster, Alabama — were found deceased.

Following investigative efforts and interagency cooperation, Hernandez was identified as the suspect. He was later apprehended in coordination with HSI New Orleans, ATF, and Louisiana law enforcement.

ICE officials confirmed that Hernandez entered the United States unlawfully, without inspection, sometime around 2013 or 2014. He also has a criminal record that includes prior charges for domestic violence with strangulation, fraud, and theft.

After his arrest in Louisiana, Hernandez was extradited to Nashville on June 24, where he is now being held in Metro Nashville Police Department custody.

The case underscores the role of federal agencies in identifying and locating noncitizens wanted for serious violent crimes, particularly those with extensive criminal records or prior immigration violations. ICE and HSI emphasized that multiagency coordination remains a vital tool in bringing such suspects to justice.
