A night of drinking led to two women being stabbed in Virginia, and the illegal alien who reportedly confessed to the attack remains in jail without bond.
The suspect, Freddi Chigo Mil, a 32-year-old Mexican national, now faces charges for second-degree murder and aggravated malicious wounding after allegedly stabbing two women Aug. 30 in Staunton, Virginia.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital. Chigo Mil reportedly confessed and told police “I did it,” according to court records.
He remains lodged in Middle River Regional Jail without bond, according to jail records.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed an immigration hold the same day Chigo Mil was arrested.
The violent attack by an illegal immigrant has once again put the spotlight on Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger and the state’s lack of cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
Anger is boiling over at sanctuary-friendly politicians over the “out of control” killings and other violent crime, including machete attacks, child sex crimes, child pornography offenses, aggravated sexual battery, rape, abduction and other serious crimes.
Chigo Mil entered the United States at an unknown date and location, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said.
DHS also called on Virginia officials to cooperate with federal authorities and commit to keeping Chigo Mil in jail or turning him over to ICE.
“This is what the Commonwealth of Virginia has become under the sanctuary policies of Governor Abigail Spanberger and her fellow sanctuary politicians,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin said. “It’s time to put an end to these preventable tragedies. Deporting illegal aliens saves lives.”
The Staunton Police Department responded to a 911 call around 4 a.m. Aug. 30 and found two female victims who had been stabbed, the department shared on Facebook.
Court records indicate that Chigo Mil confessed to police that he fatally stabbed 21-year-old Andrea Venture Reyes at the home, The Daily Progress reported.
According to court records, Chigo Mil was at 302 Orchard Lane in Staunton, listed as his address, with two women and another man. Police were dispatched to the scene after a 911 call came in but there was silence on the other end of the line.
When police arrived, officers saw a woman with apparent stab wounds exiting the home. Reyes, the second victim who also lived at the residence, was found dead, court documents state.
Chigo Mil, who had blood on his hands, was arrested at the scene on charges of second-degree murder and malicious wounding.
Staunton police interviewed Chigo Mil through an interpreter, and the suspect said the group spent the night drinking and dancing. Chigo Mil and Reyes were reportedly romantically involved and Reyes accused Chigo Mil of cheating on her in the past, according to court records.
Chigo Mil told police he was kicked out and left the home. However, he told authorities he returned to the home “to get his money,” when “he saw something he shouldn’t have seen,” The Daily Progress reported.
Chigo Mil did not elaborate on what he saw but told police he stabbed the women, telling investigators had he “just gotten the money and left, this wouldn’t have happened.”
An unidentified man at the scene told police he was sleeping when the alleged attack occurred, per court records.
In a separate incident on the same day, ICE arrested Salvadoran illegal immigrant Yinmi Molina-Zepeda in Woodbridge, Virginia, after it was discovered that he is wanted in his home country for aggravated homicide and other crimes, Fox News reported.
Violent crime by illegal immigrants has skyrocketed under Spanberger. In a news release, DHS highlighted 22 cases of violent crime involving illegal immigrants in Virginia this year.
DHS officials and victims’ advocacy groups frequently criticize executive actions by the governor and Soros-backed Commonwealth Attorneys for failing to keep criminal suspects in jail or prosecute them.
Spanberger has limited state cooperation with ICE and ended certain agreements between state and local agencies and federal immigration authorities.
Jennifer Harrison, executive director of the victim advocacy organization Victims’ Rights Reform Council, told Fox News that “everything is out of control in these upside-down jurisdictions” and blasted self-described moderate Democrats who implement policies that put criminals ahead of victims and public safety.
“We have reached a point where the federal government has to ask state and local officials not to release dangerous illegal immigrants back into American communities. Think about how insane that is,” Harrison said.
Virginians for Safe Communities has an active social media presence to keep the public abreast of the state’s soft-on-crime policies, dropped or reduced charges and release of illegal immigrants accused of crimes.
