Illegal alien indicted for murder of 19-year-old Maryland woman

An illegal alien was indicted this week for the murder of Dacara Thompson, a 19-year-old woman from Maryland.

Hugo Hernandez-Mendez, 35, has been charged with murder, tampering with evidence, and burying/disposing of a body, FOX 5 reported on Tuesday.

Hernandez-Mendez was arrested on September 5 by the Prince George’s County Police Department. Thompson was reported missing on August 23, and her body was found off a highway in nearby Anne Arundel County.

Law enforcement was able to catch Hernandez-Mendez after locating surveillance footage of Thompson getting into a black SUV then driving to Hernandez-Mendez’s residence.

“Evidence was located suggesting Ms. Thompson had been murdered in a bedroom in the residence. Based on the totality of the evidence of the investigation, detectives arrested and charged Hernandez-Mendez with her murder,” Prince George’s County Police Department said last month.

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Hernandez-Mendez is in the U.S. illegally from Guatemala and put in a detainer request after he was apprehended.

“Today’s indictment marks a critical step in the criminal justice process,” Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Tara Jackson, according to FOX 5. “Thank you to our law enforcement partners and attorneys for their work on this case.
