An illegal alien convicted of producing child pornography while living in Laramie, Wyo, will serve 30 years in prison.
Maycon Stiven Molina Perez, 23, was found to have almost 2,700 files of child porn on two phones, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Wyoming. Perez was sentenced last week by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Kelly H. Rankin to 360 months’ imprisonment, 10 years of supervised release, and restitution of $3,000 per victim who requests payment.
Perez, who’s from Nicaragua, will also be deported following his prison sentence, Cowboy State Daily reported.
Perez was caught in July after a victim’s mother found video footage on his Samsung cellphone showing him sexually assaulting a child. The mother immediately called the police and turned the cellphone over, but Perez fled to Colorado. When he was caught that same day, Perez had another cellphone in his possession that contained more child porn files.
The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation found Perez also distributed child porn through the Telegram and Whatsapp apps. One of the seized phones included “bestiality, infant/toddler sexual assault and sadomasochistic” files, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
“The pain caused by these crimes is immeasurable, and no sentence can undo the trauma inflicted on the victim and their family,” U.S. Attorney Darin Smith said in a statement. “Today’s judgment sends a clear message that no matter where you are from, if you commit the heinous crimes of sexually abusing children, you will be held fully accountable.”
“We are deeply grateful to the victim’s family for their courage and to law enforcement for their relentless work in pursuing justice,” he added.
