A previously deported illegal immigrant was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement last week after he allegedly stalked and shot someone while driving on a highway in Aurora, Colorado.
The Aurora Police Department arrested Celin Villeda Orellana, 38, an illegal from Honduras, after using Flock Safety cameras to identify his vehicle after another driver crashed on I-225 and was found to have “sustained multiple gunshot wounds, which led to the crash.” The department alleges Orellana was following and stalking the victim before shooting them, then planned on fleeing the country.

According to the department, Orellana is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, menacing and illegal discharge of a firearm. He was also deported in 2007, 2018 and 2020, after an arrest in Denver on child sexual assault charges.

Due to pending federal charges and his immigration status, Orellana was handed over to ICE custody despite Colorado’s sanctuary state status.
“This case is a clear example of why our partnership with Homeland Security Investigations and ICE is so critical,” Aurora police Chief Todd Chamberlain said in a statement. “Without their cooperation, we would not have the ability to hold this dangerous individual accountable for his actions here in Aurora.” he added.
“The criminal nexus between his immigration status and the violent crime he committed allowed us to take lawful action to ensure he remains in custody today,” he continued. “We will continue working alongside our federal partners and use every available resource to identify, arrest and hold accountable those who threaten the safety of our community.”
According to an ICE news release from 2020, first reported by Do Better Denver, a social media account that tracks crime in the city, the Denver Police Department arrested Orellana in February 2020 for sex assault on a child, but he was later “released back into the community to reoffend” despite an ICE detainer request. ICE was able to detain and deport him in September 2020.
What @AuroraPD fails to mention is that when he was arrested for child sex assault charges in 2020, @icegov had lodged a detainer on him 2/11/20, Denver Justice Center Center declined to honor the detainer and released him into the community instead. “A man charged with hurting a child in such a heinous manner has been released from the Denver Justice Center and was found at the airport. How is it justice to the victims to release these types of criminals to the streets?” then ERO Denver Field Office Director John Fabbricatore said in the statement from 2020.
Republican U.S. Rep. Gabe Evans said: “Biden’s open borders and Colorado’s sanctuary state policies let this criminal walk free. Innocent Coloradans are paying the price. These leftist laws must go.”
Attempted 1st-degree murder. Assault. Felony menacing. The list goes on.
Deported 3 times — yet Biden’s open borders and Colorado’s sanctuary state policies let this criminal walk free.
Innocent Coloradans are paying the price.
These leftist laws must go. https://t.co/eioAcFFU5y
