Venezuelan wanted for Tren de Aragua kidnapping extradited to Colorado

A Venezuelan man wanted in connection with a Tren de Aragua gang kidnapping was apprehended in Chicago and recently extradited to Colorado, where he’s facing extensive felony charges.

Jorman Jose Cuba-Zabala, 26, was arrested in April in Chicago for shoplifting two pairs of sunglasses totaling $800. He was extradited to Colorado this month after the Aurora Police Department got a warrant for his arrest.

Cuba-Zabala faces a litany of felonies, including four charges of second-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, menacing a deadly weapon, and extortion. The charges stem from a kidnapping last December at an Aurora apartment complex notorious for Tren de Aragua gang activity.

Cuba-Zabala was the last of 12 suspects wanted in connection to the kidnapping. He was booked on October 4 and is held on a $250,000 bond, ADP said.

“To date, the Aurora Police Department has sought charges against 12 suspects,” the department said. “With Cuba-Zabala’s arrest, all 12 suspects are now in custody and face charges in Arapahoe District Court.”

In March, another suspect in the kidnapping, an illegal Venezuelan “linked to the notorious Tren de Aragua gang” according to U.S. Border Patrol, was apprehended in Michigan.
