Wyoming law enforcement catches 40 illegals during truck driver operation

A three-day law enforcement operation in Wyoming’s Laramie County cracked down on illegal commercial truck drivers and resulted in 40 illegal aliens in custody now awaiting deportation.

The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office was aided by Wyoming Highway Patrol and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in “Operation Safe Haul,” which took place from November 18 to 20, and “aimed at removing unqualified, unsafe, and undocumented commercial drivers from Laramie County roadways.”

“We targeted drivers who used county roads to avoid ports,” like where I-25 crosses from Colorado into Wyoming, Sheriff Brian Kozak said in a video on the office’s Facebook page.

The operation resulted in 133 commercial driver inspections, of those 44 vehicles and 38 individuals were removed from service.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the operation also detained 40 illegal aliens who have been processed by ICE and await deportation. Among those arrested were a twice-deported illegal with DUI and sexual assault convictions.

“I am sorry to see these irresponsible and undocumented drivers tarnish the reputation of professional commercial carrier drivers who uphold safety regulations and keep America moving,” Kozak said in a written statement. “We honor those drivers who do it the right way!”

U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman said in a post on X: “Wyoming families deserve safe roads and law enforcement partners who take that responsibility seriously. Thank you to the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, ICE, and WHP for their proactive work to enforce our laws and remove dangerous criminals from our roads.”
