Federal immigration agents recently marked an enforcement milestone, reporting that 10,000 gang members have been taken off the streets since President Trump’s return to office.
The various agencies under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are delivering on the Trump administration’s goal of making American communities safer and sealing the border, according to DHS officials.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin described the gang members arrested as “vicious criminals who murdered, assaulted, robbed, and terrorized innocent Americans for sport.”
Immigration officers continue to detain and deport illegal migrant criminals despite sanctuary policies and ongoing legal disputes that make their job harder, Mullin said.
“Under Trump’s leadership, we are arresting and deporting illegal alien criminals and getting rapists, murders, pedophiles, and gang members off America’s streets,” Mullin shared on X with a Trump Truth Social post attached. “We are a nation of laws, and our laws MUST be enforced. Promises made, promises kept.”

In addition, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hasn’t let up on targeted raids across the country, announcing another 10,000 arrests in the last week, Fox News Digital reported.
The enforcement surge comes as the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship, while handing him three other immigration wins.
DHS Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement that a majority of arrests in this week’s sweep involve illegal migrants who have previously been charged or convicted of a crime.
“Nearly 70% of ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the U.S.,” Bis said. “More than 3 million illegal aliens are out of the country and counting. Our message is clear: if you come to our country illegally, we will find you, we will arrest you, and we will deport you.”
Besides targeting illegal criminals, officials have focused on heightened border security by installing Smart Wall and high-tech surveillance measures along the southern border with Mexico.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection released border data for May, reporting southwest border apprehensions were 94% lower than under Biden. It marked 13 consecutive months of historically low border crossings and apprehensions—now at their lowest levels in over three decades.
According to DHS, the 10,000th gang member arrested was Javier Hernandez Rosas, an MS-13 member from Mexico, whose criminal history includes convictions for cocaine possession and arrests for abduction and possession of weapon.
The gang members have committed violent crimes including murder, assault with a deadly weapon, drug trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, robbery and extortion.
“Many of these gang members were released into our country by Joe Biden,” Mullin said. “Thanks to the Secure America Act, ICE is turbocharged to arrest even more gang members and criminals from American neighborhoods.”
DHS shared some of the most dangerous gang members captured, including seven additional MS-13 affiliates. In May, Salvadorian migrant and MS-13 member Josue Saul Garcia-Lopez was nabbed in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
When announcing his arrest, DHS added “Meet One of the Media’s ‘Non-Criminals.”
Garcia-Lopez was involved in extortion and robbery schemes in El Salvador for several years. He has an international warrant in his home country and prior arrests in El Salvador for unlawful possession of a firearm and disorderly conduct.
Last month, Mullin joined ICE raids in Virginia targeting criminal illegal immigrants. He said 50% of the murders in Fairfax County are committed by illegal immigrants.
Since electing Democrat Gov. Abigail Spanberger, Virginia and particularly Fairfax County near Washington, D.C., has become a hotbed for migrant crime due to the state’s lenient policies and prosecution.
Edwin Antonio Hernandez Hernandez, another MS-13 gangbanger from El Salvador, was nabbed in Virginia in February. Hernandez confessed to five murders in his home country, including the live dismemberment of one victim, according to DHS.
Two other MS-13 gang members from El Salvador — Danny Granados-Garcia and David Antonio Aviles Perez — were taken into custody during separate ICE operations in Connecticut in April and California in March, DHS said. Granados- Garcia is wanted in his home country of El Salvador for murdering a pastor.
Other MS-13 members arrested by ICE in recent months include Gerson Emir Cuadra Soto, who was wanted in his home country of Honduras for a quadruple homicide.
Ismael Enrique Mendoza Flores is wanted for aggravated homicide in El Salvador and had a prior arrest for unauthorized use of a vehicle in the US. He was arrested in Virginia in October 2025
Nelson Vladimir Amaya-Benitez has a criminal history including armed robbery, theft, and malicious second-degree burning, DHS said. The MS-13 member was arrested in Maryland last year.
ICE is also going after the vicious Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua. Venezuelan national Yorvis Michel Carrascal Campo was charged with murder, racketeering and drug trafficking and arrested in Colorado in January.
Known TdA member Jesus Ruben Lopez Garcia was arrested in Oregon in February 2026. His lengthy rap sheet includes theft, assault, criminal possession of a firearm and obstructing law enforcement.
