ICE confirms illegal MS-13 gang member with murder conviction deported

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has confirmed an illegal alien and MS-13 gang member from Honduras has been deported after serving prison time for murder and robbery.

ICE detained Jose Jairo Rivas-Santiago on June 16, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. In 2019, he was arrested and later convicted of first-degree murder and robbery with a gun in Richmond, Virginia.

Rivas-Santiago was deported on June 25, ICE said on Sunday.

“Despite a 2012 final removal order, MS-13 gang member and Honduran criminal illegal alien Jose Jairo Rivas-Santiago was arrested by ICE HSI Richmond in 2019 and sentenced to 30 years for FIRST-DEGREE MURDER and ARMED ROBBERY,” the agency said in a social media post.

After Rivas-Santiago was sentenced in 2021, ICE submitted a detainer request, local media reported. ICE made the arrest last month after it was notified of his release.

DHS included Rivas-Santiago on its “Worst of the Worst” list the day after he was arrested by ICE.
