Kassim Wasil/Yemen/Homicide, Assault

Yemeni national Kassim Wasil was arrested in Dearborn, Michigan, after officers responded to a 911 call reporting a violent stabbing inside a home. Responding officers found an adult woman with fatal stab wounds and evidence of another assault in progress, then took Wasil into custody at the scene without additional force. He was transported to the local jail on preliminary homicide and assault charges tied to the domestic incident.​

Dearborn authorities have not released information about Wasil’s immigration status but confirmed that details of the homicide and assault case will be available to any federal agency that later reviews his background. Prosecutors are expected to formalize charges after completing further interviews and evidence analysis related to the deadly attack.

According to ICE, Wasil’s criminal history includes “2nd degree murder, assault, resisting or obstructing an officer, and cruelty to a dependent adult.“
