Aroutune Yazmadjian/Armenia/Kidnapping, Cruelty Toward the Elderly

ICE New Orleans deported Aroutune Yazmadjian, a citizen of Armenia, following criminal convictions that include kidnapping and cruelty toward the elderly. Court records show that the kidnapping conviction carried a twelve year sentence, reflecting the seriousness of the offense and the risks created for the victim. Kidnapping is charged when a person unlawfully restrains or carries away another, often to facilitate additional crimes, coerce behavior, or evade law enforcement. Evidence in such prosecutions typically includes victim testimony, physical or digital records tracking movement, and corroborating witness accounts.

The separate conviction for cruelty toward the elderly involves criminal conduct directed at an older adult, such as physical harm, neglect, or exploitation. Statutes protecting seniors recognize the heightened vulnerability of victims and impose enhanced penalties when offenders target individuals whose age or health limits their ability to protect themselves. Case files in these matters often include medical documentation, photographs of injuries, and records of financial or caretaking responsibilities to prove the elements beyond a reasonable doubt.

After completion of the custodial portion of his sentence, immigration authorities assumed custody of Yazmadjian for removal processing. Standard steps included biometric identity verification, collection of certified judgment and sentencing documents, and coordination of travel authorization with the Government of Armenia. He was placed on a repatriation itinerary and transported under escort.

Upon arrival overseas, Yazmadjian was transferred to Armenian authorities for any actions deemed appropriate under their law. The deportation concludes the United States immigration case that followed his felony convictions, with the criminal judgments remaining part of the permanent record for future admissibility determinations.
