Ivan Olmedo/Mexico/DUI, Aggravated Assault, Shoplifting, Cocaine Possession
Ivan Olmedo, a 40-year-old citizen of Mexico, was arrested by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New Orleans during a targeted enforcement operation aimed at identifying and detaining illegal aliens with significant criminal histories. Olmedo was taken into custody without incident after local authorities and federal officers confirmed his identity and background.
Olmedo’s criminal record includes multiple felony convictions, beginning with felony possession of cocaine. In that case, law enforcement discovered a substantial quantity of the narcotic during a traffic stop, leading to his arrest, prosecution, and conviction. He also has a felony conviction for aggravated assault, stemming from a violent altercation in which he was found to have used or threatened force against another person. In addition to these serious offenses, Olmedo has been arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and for shoplifting.
He had previously been encountered by law enforcement for immigration-related offenses and was determined to be unlawfully present in the United States. ICE officers verified his criminal and immigration history through national databases and placed him into ICE custody following his most recent arrest.
Olmedo is currently detained at an ICE facility and is awaiting immigration proceedings. Depending on the outcome, he may be removed from the country and returned to Mexico based on his unlawful status and multiple convictions.
