Jaime Moncada-Velasquez/Honduras/Criminal Sex Offense
Jaime Moncada-Velasquez, a 46-year-old illegal alien and citizen of Honduras, was removed from the United States by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New Orleans following the completion of his prison sentence for a felony sex offense. Moncada-Velasquez had entered the U.S. unlawfully on an unknown date and without inspection or parole by immigration authorities. He was later convicted of a serious sexual offense, resulting in a 10-year sentence in a U.S. correctional facility.
His conviction stemmed from an incident involving sexual assault that led to felony charges and a lengthy incarceration. After serving his sentence, Moncada-Velasquez was transferred directly into ICE custody pursuant to an immigration detainer previously lodged with the correctional institution. Detainers are placed to ensure that individuals in the country illegally who have committed serious crimes are taken into federal custody upon release from local or state incarceration.
After reviewing his criminal and immigration history, ICE determined that Moncada-Velasquez was subject to removal and executed a final order of deportation. He was removed via commercial air charter and transferred to Honduran authorities upon arrival. His deportation is part of ICE’s broader efforts to ensure that criminal illegal aliens who pose a risk to communities are identified, detained, and removed.
