Mario Bernabe-Juan/Guatemala/Aggravated Assault

On January 29, 2025, ICE San Diego administratively arrested Mario Bernabe-Juan, an undocumented alien from Guatemala.

Bernabe-Juan has multiple illegal entries into the United States and has been convicted of aggravated assault with a weapon and sexual assault. Bernabe-Juan will be held in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.

On a similar case, on February 26, 2025, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New York City arrested 32-year-old Guatemalan national Axel Ramirez-Hernandez in Spring Valley, New York. Ramirez-Hernandez had previously been removed from the United States and unlawfully reentered at an unknown time and location.

He was convicted in New York State of sexual assault involving a victim under the age of 16 and was serving a federal sentence for illegal reentry at the time of his arrest.

Following his release from the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, ICE officers apprehended Ramirez-Hernandez without incident. He was issued a notice to appear before an immigration judge for violating the terms of his prior removal order under the Immigration and Nationality Act. Ramirez-Hernandez remains in ICE custody pending the outcome of his removal proceedings.
