Seberiano Garcia-Munoz/Mexico/Assault

by G. George | May 20, 2025

On May 15, 2025, ICE officers in Los Angeles arrested Manuel Seberiano Garcia-Munoz, a 32-year-old Mexican national with a violent criminal history. Garcia-Munoz had previously been removed from the United States and later reentered unlawfully through an unknown location. He came to ICE’s attention again following his conviction for assault with a deadly weapon, for which he served four years in a California state prison.

Garcia-Munoz had a history of encounters with law enforcement dating back to 2017. His charges included aggravated assault, domestic violence, and illegal possession of a firearm. Court documents show that in 2019, he attacked a man with a metal object during a street altercation in Los Angeles County. After his arrest, he was prosecuted and sentenced in 2020. ICE lodged a detainer with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation prior to his release in May 2025.

Despite his prior removal and violent record, Garcia-Munoz was not held for ICE and was released into the community. Following a targeted operation, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officers located and arrested him without incident at a residence in East Los Angeles. He was transported to an ICE detention facility where he remains in custody.

Garcia-Munoz is currently facing reinstatement of his previous order of removal. Removal proceedings are pending before an immigration judge.
