Yendry Morales/Cuba/Alien Smuggling
Yendry Morales, a 34-year-old illegal alien and citizen of Cuba, was arrested by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New Orleans due to his prior conviction for alien smuggling. Morales was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison following his conviction for facilitating the unlawful entry of foreign nationals into the United States. After completing his sentence, he was transferred into ICE custody for removal proceedings.
Morales was originally apprehended by federal authorities during an investigation into a human smuggling operation that sought to move individuals across U.S. borders illegally. According to court documents, Morales played a central role in coordinating transportation and logistics for the smuggling operation, including arranging routes, payments, and concealment strategies to avoid detection. The investigation revealed that his actions placed multiple individuals in dangerous conditions while exploiting them for profit.
Following his criminal conviction, Morales served time in a federal correctional facility and was released to ICE custody without bond. His immigration status was reviewed, and he was determined to be illegally present in the United States with no lawful basis for remaining. ERO officers in New Orleans acted swiftly to initiate removal proceedings and ensure he did not reenter the community.
Yendry Morales will remain detained while his immigration case proceeds through the courts.
