U.S. Rep. Shri Thanedar says he’s introducing legislation to “abolish” U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement this week and called on Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to be impeached.
Thanedar, who was born in India and now represents Michigan’s 13th Congressional District, said on Wednesday that ICE is “beyond reform.” His comments came during a press conference held by Congressional Democrats to talk about ICE fatally shooting Renee Good as she hit an agent with her vehicle.
“Kristi Noem must be impeached,” he said. “She must face the consequences of this, and we must … reform ICE – but it looks at this stage, folks, ICE is beyond reform. ICE is totally out of control, and this week I intend to introduce a bill to abolish ICE. We need to make ICE go away.”

Thanedar went on to refer to ICE as “murderers” and “paramilitary.”
The congressman is one of over 70 Democrats who have signed on to articles of impeachment filed this week against Noem.
He also previously sponsored a bill to end qualified immunity for ICE agents and last month filed articles of impeachment against War Secretary Pete Hegseth for his role in taking out narco-terrorists operating in the Caribbean.
Thanedar, a former Democratic Socialists of America member, in the past has repeatedly pushed for President Donald Trump’s impeachment to no avail, with fellow Democrats even criticizing his efforts.
President Trump ripped Thanedar as a “dumb guy” during a rally in Michigan last year.
