Illegal from Finland faces deportation after throwing coffee on mother, baby

An illegal immigrant from Finland faces deportation after she allegedly attacked a Florida woman, her baby, and her dog, dousing them with coffee.

The altercation occurred in New Smyrna, Florida, after Nina Kristina Jaaskelainen began yelling at the mother, who was walking down a road passing Jaaskelainen’s home with her son and unleashed dog. Jaaskelainen allegedly threw coffee at the dog, taking issue that it was unleashed, then threw coffee at the mother and her son.

“She started screaming at us,” the mother, Kelly Brisell, told WESH 2 News. “I ignored her. She kept saying it, and I said, ‘I don’t have a leash,’ and kept walking. Then she looked at [the dog], walked up and threw her coffee on him.”

“It was all over my clothes, and all over [my son],” Brisell said. “It was over his eyes, nose and temple. Thank God the coffee wasn’t hot.”

Jaaskelainen, 54, faces charges of battery and domestic violence, in addition to deportation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which issued a detainer request to hold her at the Volusia County Jail.

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Jaaskelainen came to the U.S. on April 17, 1999 with a tourist visa, but illegally overstayed.

“For over TWO DECADES, Jaaskelainen has been in our country illegally, skirting the law without consequence,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “Now, a baby, a mother, and a dog have been assaulted by her,” she added.

“She is now facing charges for battery and domestic violence,” McLaughlin continued. “ICE lodged an arrest detainer to ensure she can never victimize another American family. President Trump and Secretary Noem will not allow illegal aliens to terrorize American citizens.”
