Illegal who brutally murdered Maryland mom sentenced to life in prison

An illegal alien convicted of raping and murdering a Maryland mom was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Monday.

In April, a jury found Victor Martinez-Hernandez guilty of kidnapping, raping and murdering Rachel Morin, 37, while she was hiking a trail in Bel Air, Maryland in August 2023.

Martinez-Hernandez was sentenced to life in prison without parole of first-degree murder, life for first-degree rape, and an additional 40 years, all to be served consecutively, local news reported.

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Martinez-Hernandez entered the U.S. illegally from El Salvador but was released in 2023 during the Biden administration.

“Today, Rachel Morin’s killer was sentenced to life without parole for her brutal murder,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement on Monday. “This criminal illegal alien should have never been in our country in the first place. Rachel should still be here watching her 5 children grow up.”

“We hear far too much in the mainstream media about sob stories of gang members and criminal illegals and not enough about their victims. God bless Rachel and her family,” she added.

Patti Morin, Rachel’s mother, asked how a “person could commit such horrific crimes?” during victim statements, FOX 45 News reported.

“Before my mom was murdered the world made sense to me. Life made sense to me,” Faye, Rachel’s oldest child, also said. “Now my heart is broken.”

“Victor is evil and changed my entire life for the worst. Now, I ask you to change his life for the worst,” she added, according to FOX 45 News.
