Driven by far-left rhetoric that encourages violence, illegal immigrants and their supporters have turned vehicles into weapons in their increasingly brazen attempts to resist arrest.
Vehicle ramming attacks against federal law enforcement officers have more than doubled this year, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Across the country, agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Marshals Service and other agencies are under siege as they attempt to enforce federal immigration law.
Between car chases and vehicular assaults, the incidents continue to escalate as illegal aliens try to evade ICE and law enforcement.
DHS shared the details on social media and blames the surge in vehicle attacks on hateful rhetoric from sanctuary politicians, leftist activists and the mainstream media.
“Anyone who attacks law enforcement, especially using their vehicles, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” DHS shared on X. “We will not be deterred and will continue arresting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens.”

Nearly 100 vehicular attacks have been reported this year, more than double the amount during the same time last year, DHS said. These attacks put both officers and the public at risk and can lead to fatal outcomes.
“We are seeing the results of the Left’s constant demonization of the men and women of law enforcement,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Dangerous criminals – whether they be illegal aliens or U.S. citizens — are turning their vehicles into weapons to attack ICE and CBP.”
Anti-ICE agitators have turned from throwing rocks and fireworks at ICE agents to using bicycles and vehicles as weapons.
Criminal illegal aliens have followed suit, leading police on high-speed chases, ramming their cars into federal vehicles and attempting to run agents over.
Since Jan. 20, there have been 99 vehicle attacks against federal law enforcement, according to a DHS news release.
- 71 vehicular attacks against CBP, compared to 45 vehicle assaults during the same period in 2024 — a 58% increase.
- 28 vehicular attacks against ICE, compared to two such incidents in the same period of 2024 — a 1,300% increase.
On Nov. 13, Ever Gabriel Alvarez-Campos, a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador, intentionally rammed his car into an ICE vehicle and fled the scene in Adelphi, Md.
Alvarez has pending criminal charges for second-degree assault. While trying to flee, he hit another vehicle and fled the scene on foot before being captured by ICE officers.
Even though the temperature is dropping, the Windy City continues to ramp up the resistance—fueled in large part by far-left Democrats including Gov. JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson.
On Nov. 8, violence exploded over immigration enforcement operations in Chicago. Border Patrol faced four different vehicular ramming attacks in one day, along with activists firing shots and throwing bricks, DHS said.
Four suspects were arrested, while one was stopped by a Controlled Tire Deflation Device and another remains at large.
“The violence in Chicago against law enforcement is unprecedented,” McLaughlin said after the day of violence. “These attacks are the consequence of vitriolic smears from sanctuary politicians and the media.”
In early October, two illegal aliens trying to evade arrest in Illinois used their vehicles as weapons against ICE officers. The vehicular assaults occurred on the same day, with one in Bensenville and the other in Norridge. The suspects in both cases were criminal illegal aliens who were arrested.
In another desperate attempt to evade capture, two violent criminal illegal aliens in Chicago led officers on a ten-minute car chase, causing multiple car accidents, and then fled on foot into a nearby school. The two Mexican nationals have lengthy rap sheets, including convictions for domestic assault, DUI, drug possession and kidnapping.
Federal agents arrested the two men on Oct. 30 after they bailed out of their car near the Warren Township High School’s O’Plaine Campus, in Gurnee, Ill., a suburb north of Chicago. One fleeing illegal alien ran into the school, likely thinking it was a “safe zone” due to Chicago’s sanctuary policies.
DHS billed Oct. 22 “Cicero or Sicario: A Day of Crashes” in Chicago. Border Patrol faced one of its most violent days since beginning Operation Midway Blitz.
Besides numerous threats and aggressive tactics throughout the Windy City, there were three different vehicular attacks against law enforcement. Several of the arrested suspects had criminal histories, including a Latin Kings gang member with convictions for unlawful possession of a firearm, destroying evidence, and DUI.
The driver and gang member, Alexis Correa, is accused of following agents for several miles on 26th Street and then attempted to ram the vehicle head-on. USBP evaded the driver, but the suspects continued to drive recklessly striking another car civilian car.
On Oct. 14, also in Chicago, an illegal alien used his vehicle to ram CBP vehicles and then attempted to flee. The driver and his passenger, both illegal aliens from Venezuela, were arrested for assault on a federal agent and accessory to assault.
During their arrest, a violent mob surrounded agent and began throwing objects at them. And mainstream media reports spun the story, claiming that CBP “kidnapped” the teenager, DHS said.
“These are more disgusting smears peddled by the media and billboard law firms,” McLaughlin said about the “kidnapping” narrative. “This attack is not an isolated incident, and it reflects a growing and dangerous trend of illegal aliens violently resisting arrest, and agitators and criminals ramming cars into our law enforcement officers.”
Elsewhere, there have been reports of vehicle ramming incidents in California and Florida. California officials actually encourage violence and resistance.
In a social media clip from MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass bragged about impeding federal agents through the state’s “rapid response” network.

In early September, Bobby Nunez, 33, a tow truck driver in Los Angeles, was hit with federal charges after brazenly towing an ICE vehicle that was left unattended during an unruly arrest. Nunez was allegedly laughing and filming as he towed the federal vehicle.
Even Republican stronghold and the pro-deportation state of Florida isn’t immune. On Sept. 14, an ICE officer was injured in a vehicular assault in Homestead, Fla.
A Guatemalan national attempted to flee ICE and reversed his car into the officer during a traffic stop, hitting the officer in the leg and nearly crushing him.
The suspect rammed into multiple ICE vehicles and then sped away into incoming traffic before colliding with a utility van. The driver and three other illegal aliens were arrested.
Also in October, a Venezuelan national with ties to the Tren de Aragua gang was charged in connection to a failed ATM heist in Dexter, Mich., that led to a police pursuit and fatal car crash earlier in the month.
The getaway driver sped off during a traffic stop and crashed head-on into a tree, eventually dying from his injuries. Yosue Manuel Gonzalez-Moy, 24, a passenger in the back seat, suffered “significant injuries” but survived to face charges.
