Ahmed Mohamed Yasser Salama
Ahmed Mohamed Yasser Salama/Egypt/First-Degree Felony Sexual Abuse, Harassment
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officers in Corpus Christi, working with the FBI, arrested 35-year-old Egyptian national Ahmed Mohamed Yasser Salama on August 19 and returned him to immigration custody. Salama originally entered the United States on July 11, 2017, on a nonimmigrant visa that was later terminated in November 2019 after he violated the University of Alabama Code of Conduct.
He was first charged with first-degree felony sexual abuse on September 9, 2019, then arrested by ICE Homeland Security Investigations in August 2021 on a Jefferson County, Alabama warrant and extradited to Birmingham, where he was indicted.
After posting bond, he was taken into ICE custody in September 2021 and placed in removal proceedings, but was released on an immigration bond in November 2021 under prior policy. Salama later pleaded guilty to harassment on August 30, 2024, served 60 days, and resumed reporting to ICE.
An immigration judge denied his bid to terminate removal on February 21, 2025, and following his latest August 19 arrest in Corpus Christi, he now remains detained pending the outcome of his immigration case.
