ICE Newark and CBP officers arrested Brazilian national Daniel Firmino Dos Santos Vicente on August 9 in Cinnaminson, New Jersey, after a routine immigration enforcement operation led to a traffic stop. Officers spotted a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun, an airsoft gun, and a large knife in plain view on the vehicle’s center console, prompting an immediate safety concern and weapons seizure. He was taken into custody without incident.

Firmino entered the United States at Detroit on October 17, 2015, using a tourist visa that expired April 16, 2016, but failed to depart, making him illegally present for more than nine years. He now faces federal criminal charges for being an alien in possession of a firearm, in addition to immigration violations tied to his prolonged overstay.

An acting ERO Newark field office spokesman said the discovery of loaded weapons during a routine operation shows how quickly officers’ daily work can become life‑threatening and stressed the need for constant vigilance amid rising assaults on personnel. Firmino is currently held at the Elizabeth Contract Detention Facility pending removal proceedings.
